Will the iPad save newspapers and magazines?

I've furthered my Apple obsession by adding an iPad to the fold. Perhaps the iPad's biggest strength is how it transforms the newspaper and magazine formats in ways traditional web pages cannot.

As a developer that's had a great deal of experience in the online news and magazine platforms, it is evident to me that a few factors make reading news on the iPad clearly better than anything we could currently offer online.  Portability is certainly an argument, form factor is another and the linking in of richer media takes online news many steps closer to that "Harry Potter-esque" moving, self-updating, talking newspaper.  The iPad certainly breathes new life into an otherwise dying format.

I'll write more about this in upcoming posts, but I am more curious that ever about iPad applications that replace traditional print medium and will offer my insights as I am on the journey of discovery.
